The 3rd Annual (WWAAC) Who’s Who in Asian American Communities Leaders & Legends Awards honors 6-distinguished Recipients Amidst the glitz and glamor of Los Angeles and with the backdrop of Hollywood, the WWAAC Leaders and Legends Awards showcased and recognized the accomplishments of (6) six dedicated and successful Asian Americans who serve as role models throughout the nation. The 3rd Annual WWAAC Awards were filmed by TVK24 before a live audience at the grand finale of the 2008 NAAAP Convention (National Association of Asian American Professionals) and are scheduled to be aired across the nation in late September. The WWAAC Awards will be televised and aired to an estimated 15-million homes across the country on three television networks. During the WWAAC Awards, the NAAAP Convention launched the NAAAP 100 Leadership Award to two Honorees who embody the spirit and practice of NAAAPs vision and mission - and are role models for all Asians. Scott Oki – entrepreneur, venture capitalist, philanthropist, and community activist was awarded the first NAAAP 100 Leadership Award. David Lum – director of Motorola’s Asia/Pacific division in the U.S. and Singapore, and President of the Asian business Council within Motorola was presented the 2nd NAAAP 100 Leadership Award.

For over one hundred fifty years, Asian Americans have made enormous contributions to the prosperity and success of this great nation. While there are many different Who’s Who organizations recognizing outstanding members of our society, very few, if any, focus on the prominent Asian Americans who have been our role models for success, great contributors to our community and to the nation, and distinguished figures in their own professions. The WWAAC committee is a group of Asian Americans dedicated to honoring successful Asians who serve as leaders and role models in their respective communities. The purpose of the WWAAC Committee is to recognize the accomplishments of these leaders, publicize their achievements, and promote the Asian American community into mainstream America. Unlike other Who’s Who organizations – membership to the distinguished and elite WWAAC Leaders and Legends program cannot be purchased. As recipients of the exclusive WWAAC award, Honorees must pass rigid scrutiny, fulfill numerous obligations, and possess outstanding accomplishments. It is the WWAAC Committee’s goal to once again include only those distinguished Asian Americans who meet the required standards. The WWAAC Selection Committee is currently taking nominations for the 2009 WWAAC Awards. Send nominations and nominee bios to wwaac@sachikoto.com. |
